  • Chinese aircraft carriers are being churned out. They just completed their 3rd carrier identified as the Fujian it is of class type 003. It is equipped with an electro magnetic catapult system like the US’s Gerald Ford class carriers. It does not have nuclear power but the next class the 004 will be nuclear enabled.
    • From interesting article by the “The National Interest” – sounds like Chinese propaganda.
      • Unlike the U.S., whose aircraft carriers are central to its naval power, China’s carriers are meant to operate under the protective “bubble” created by its A2/AD defenses, particularly within the First Island Chain.
      • China is rapidly expanding its aircraft carrier fleet, with plans for five or six by the 2030s, despite the challenges posed by anti-access/area-denial (A2/AD) systems. Unlike the U.S., whose carriers are central to its naval power, China’s carriers are meant to operate under the protective “bubble” created by its A2/AD defenses, particularly within the First Island Chain.

    • [CLIP] France having trouble forming a government. They finally settled on a very centrist Prime Minister. Not liked by the left/labor because he plans on working with everyone to setup and build a government.
      • [CLIP] How does a French election work? They have to “form” a government.
    • Russia trying to build a new shipping port that shortens routes from Asia to Europe by sending ice cutters through the ice. They want to see the future development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) through strengthened shipbuilding and port capacity. There is Chinese interest in this route along with other “artic” countries. Besides adding quicker trade route access to european countries it is also strategic militarily to build-up this regions port. It’s the north western tip of Russia next to Finland and Sweden in the Murmansk area.
    • [CLIP] Two people who worked for RT hired Tenet media, founded by Lauren Chen who has a show on BlazeTV Glen Beck’s outfit for $10 million dollars. They in turn hired “influencers” to distribute content (presumably pro-russian agenda). They in turn created 2000 youtube videos and tiktik and instagram and x garnering 16 million views. Government says it’s geared toward influencing the election. They captured 32 different domains specifically defined as Russian influencing. Iran also cyber attacked the campaigns.
    • [CLIP] Antony Blinken in haiti trying to get elections going. Overrun by gang and gang leader who is very very violent
      • Jimmy Chérizier, known as Babekyou in Haitian Creole — or Barbecue — is one of the most powerful and notorious gang leaders. He heads the G9 federation of gangs. He is the man who convinced many of Haiti’s gangs to stop fighting each other and start fighting the government.

      • “Numerous persons have been shot near I-75,” the office said in a statement. The extent of possible injuries and the status of any suspect or suspects was not immediately clear.

  • SHOVEL STORIES
    • Selena Gomez at 32 years old is officially a billionaire, according to a Bloomberg report.
      • She is estimated to be worth $1.3 billion, making her one of the country’s youngest women with a 10-figure fortune.
      • Her wealth is from the entertainment business: Music- She was a mainstay on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout most of 2023 thanks to her single, “Calm Down,”
      • Movies -The hit series “Only Murders in the Building,”
      • Selena’s bulk net worth is from the Rare Beauty makeup and cosmetics brand (which is available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico) that launched in 2019.
  • PICK STORIES
    • Big brother this week Joseph gets evicted
      • Didn’t like his coasting attitude. He was saying his plan was to never win a single competition but still win the game. He believed he had a good social game. Funny how he and Quinn are both into Lea but she’s not into either of them. She kind of keeps them both on a string. Boy is she a looker. She proclaims to be a “chubby chaser” saying she likes SHOVEL bods.
        • I can’t believe Angela escaped again from being evicted.
      • Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift breakup contract
        • The document in question, titled “Comprehensive Media Plan For Travis Kelce’s Relations Following Breakup with Taylor Swift,”
        • The agency on the paperwork is called Full Scope and they have been known to fabricate celebrity relationships generating contracts like the one that showed up on reddit. Full Scope has categorically denied the authenticity of the paperwork.
        • Kelce to sue supposedly the people responsible who right now are not identified. They’re trying to get Reddit’s legal team to release the identity of the person or people responsible for releasing the forged documents.
      • What movies  i’m watching or really wanna watch
        • Watched Twisters, it’s great. The guy who is in Hit Man and Top Gun 2 is now the new stud in hollywood. He just has that amazing face and bone structure and the charisma to boot.
        • Deadpool and Wolverine are coming out on digital release soon. Can’t wait to see it. Been tough ignoring details and spoilers about it up to now.
        • Alien: Romulus. The next chapter in the Alien serious. I really like Prometheus and some of these newer movies in this series. Never was a huge fan of the first 3. They were just alright. But when they introduced the god-like aliens that seed the planets and essentially are responsible for the creation of the Alien species, it then became interesting to me.

    • September 8th, 2022 Queen Elizabeth II, the world’s longest-reigning monarch, dies at the age of 96, in her home at Balmoral.
    • Sept 4th, 1998, Google founded by Stanford University students Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
  • PICK STORIES
    • On September 8, 1974, recently installed US President Gerald Ford issued a full pardon to former President Richard Nixon to protect him against any form of prosecution for the crimes he committed related to the Watergate scandal while in office.
    • On September 3, 1924, troops of Abdulaziz ibn Saud, the most powerful warlord in the Arabian Peninsula, massacred 300 civilians in the city of Taif, about 40 miles (65 km) east of Mecca, as a part of his conquest of the territory he named after his family, Saudi Arabia.
    • The war of actium is said to have started BC 31 September 2nd. This was the last Roman civil war between Octavian (Julius Caesar heir apparent) and Marc Antony. Octavian convinced the Roman Senate to declare war on the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. Her lover and ally Mark Antony, who was Octavian’s rival, gave his support for her cause. Forty percent of the Roman Senate, together with both consuls, left Rome to join the war on Antony’s side. After a decisive victory for Octavian at the Battle of Actium, Cleopatra and Antony withdrew to Alexandria, where Octavian besieged the city until both Antony and Cleopatra were forced to commit suicide.

      • Examples of biggest losers
        • The Nikkei 225 is one of the key indicators of the health of the japanese stock market. This index and the TOPIX are the big ones. The Nikkei was down almost  9%. Investors digested data showing Japan’s household spending rose less than expected in July, although previous data pointed to rising wages. Inside this index this week Toyota was down 2.3%. The reason for the stock going down is due to a 30% reduced production estimate for 2026 EVs. Deliberate move due to global demand for them being reduced.
          • This led me to look at the health of Toyota. As part of the project to understand financials better.

            • Should be 106.24 based on just subtracting the debt from enterprise value and dividing by shares so I’m missing on how market capitalization is calculated.
            • Traded as TM on NYSE, traded on the Japanese Stock Market as T in Tokyo and traded on the Munich Stock Exchange TOM.MU in Germany.
              • I don’t understand how one share can be valued differently from each other. A Japanese toyota stock share does not equal in yen how much a NYSE traded stock is valued at.
        • US stocks fell on Friday, weighed down by concerns over a slowing labor market and a tech selloff.
          • S&P500 lost 4.56% this week. Ending at 5390.67
      • Examples of biggest winners

            • KC is good. Xavier Worthy is good. The first round draft pick looks like he’s going to be really good. He had 2 TDs.
            • Mahomes threw for 291 while Lamar threw for 273 and 122 rushing yards. Both looked like they will be meeting again later in the season during the playoffs. Both teams look good.
            • KC looks better than they did last year. Their receiving core is better. There defense looked fast and good.
          • SHOVEL’s Comments
            • The Ravens looked good as well.  They could have tied the game with less than 10 seconds of the game.  TE Isaiah Likely caught a pass in the end zone but had the tip of toe go out of bounds.
