Airstrike Exchange (SHOVEL)
Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel boiled over yesterday morning.
Hezbollah––the (lengthy-to-describe) Lebanon-based, Iran-backed, Hamas-allied militant group––had reportedly planned a rocket attack on northern Israel in retaliation for the assassination of its top commander last month. Israel says it learned of the attack and blunted it, striking thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers so that “fifty percent, maybe two-thirds” of their rockets didn’t liftoff.
Still, each side landed hundreds of blows, marking the heaviest exchange of airstrikes during a months-long back-and-forth. By mid-morning, skies had quieted, and Hezbollah’s leader said its successful attack was over. Israel reported killing three Hezbollah fighters and sustaining “very little” home front damage.
The morning’s conflict added fuel to fears of a regional war, but by afternoon, both sides had seemed to step back, avoiding escalation.Para-Olympics Start this week (SHOVEL)2024 Paris Paralympics started this week on Wed, Aug 28 with the will run through Sunday, September 8 4,400 Paralympic athletes from around the world will compete in 549 medal events in the 22 sports featured. s.Blind football – is for athletes with vision impairment played with an audible ball. (SHOVEL) Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back earlier this year.  Why?

  • Home Depot, Walmart and a lot of the big box stores are putting Hallowen stuff out already.  Wonder if we are going to see Christmas merchandise come out in September.
  • Marketing experts say retailers typically seek early holiday promotions to prevent unsold inventory or to beat their competitors to the punch. They say the early launches are also a sign that consumer demands are changing, especially since COVID.

          • USC upset LSU, 27-20, at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on a game-winning drive executed by Trojans first-year starting quarterback Miller Moss — putting a cherry on top of what was a thrilling opening weekend of college football.
          • USC running back Woody Marks was the one who scored the winning touchdown, which came on a 13-yard carry up the middle with seconds left in the fourth quarter. Marks’ touchdown was set up by a 20-yard reception from Kyron Hudson and a 15-yard targeting penalty on LSU’s safety Jardin Gilbert.
